Additional Early Childhood Ministries
Play and Praise
Reminding our Children that they can praise God anywhere! Every Tuesday morning at Parnell Park (10711 Scott Ave. in Whittier), play and chat with other parents and children, and join us for a brief time of singing at 11:00 am. No sign-ups required, friends enthusiastically welcomed! On rainy days we meet at the church in Room A103.
Spring and Fall Celebrations
Creating family memories and celebrating God’s creation. At these semi-annual events, families enjoy child-centered activities highlighting one part of God’s creation. At each Celebration your family will create a scrapbook page, have a family photo taken, enjoy a picnic dinner on the grass, and worship our Creator as the sun sets. Open to the families of Early Childhood aged children and the families of their friends. Space is not limited for these events, but reservations are required so that we may plan appropriately.
Bible Adventure on Location
Making Scripture come to life for your child. Travel by school bus to an exotic destination where a Bible story will come to life with costumed actors. Share in the banquet of Queen Esther, go with Moses as he comes upon the burning bush, watch as David is anointed as the next king of Israel. Participate in the games and activities that children in biblical times would have played, then return to the church to complete a themed craft. Bible Adventures are scheduled for a Wednesday morning in August, are are for children aged 3 to kindergarten. Space is limited and reservations are required.
Angel Breakfast
Introducing young children to the true meaning of Christmas. This special tradition occurs the first Saturday in December. Children who are two years old through kindergarten are invited with a parent or special adult. The morning includes crafts, breakfast, a visit from a choir of angels, and brief singing and story time. Space is limited and reservations are required.
The Plan
Equipping and discipleship of parents. This is a ministry directly to parents of children from birth through fifth grade. Pastor Bud and parents meet together for instruction and support over the course of 10 years. The first meeting is for parents of infants and is a preparation for the Parent Covenant Commitment service (formerly called Baby Dedication). There are also sessions for parents of 2-3 year olds and parents of kindergarteners.
